490th Anniversary of Tavira – the town
490 years ago King Dom Manuel 1 bestowed city status upon Tavira and at that time it was considered the largest and most important settlement in the Algarve, supplanting even Silves over in the west. Tavira Municipality commemorates this occasion with a photo exhibition in the arcades of Republic Square (outside the Camara).
President Jorge Botelho will open the exhibition on Tuesday 16th March, 2010.
